Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations
His Excellency Amrit Bahadur Rai has been Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations since 04 March 2019. He served as the Vice President of the Seventy-seventh session of the General Assembly and the Chair of The Economic and Financial Committee (Second Committee) at the Seventy-fifth session. Prior to that, Ambassador Rai has worked as a Joint Secretary in various Divisions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also was the Ambassador of Nepal to South Africa (2014-2018) and Minister Counsellor of the Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations, New York (2008-2013). He holds Master’s Degree in Public Management from the University of Potsdam, Berlin, Master’s Degree in Public Administration (MPA) and Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu.
