Gopal Prasad Sigdel is a Secretary of Government of Nepal and currently deputed a Secretary for Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation. The major scope of work of his current assignment are planning and budgeting of Water Resources and Irrigation Development projects, coordination of Multilateral and Bilateral cooperation in Water Resources and Irrigation sector. He worked as a Secretary for Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Director General of Department of Roads, Project Director in different Road Projects of Government of Nepal.

He graduated as a Post Graduate DAAD (German Academic Exchange Services) fellow in Master of Sciences in Civil Engineering from Federal Democratic Republic of Germany. He has wide range of experiences in Infrastructure Project Planning, Designing, Implementation and Operation especially in Transport and Irrigation Infrastructures. He has more than 24 years’ experience as a Civil Engineer in different positions in Government of Nepal. During his tenures as Secretary and Director General and Joint Secretary, his work function is extensively engaged as policy planner in policy planning of Transport and Irrigation Infrastructures.

He also has wide range of training experiences in different prestigious institutions across the Globe. He graduated as a fellow trainee in Road Safety from Technical University Delft, The Netherlands, and Hydro Infra Planning from the Republic of Korea, Urban Transport Planning from Singapore and Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing from Germany.

Mr. Sigdel is DAAD Alumnae and honored bythe President of Nepal. He is well-known young and energetic technocrat working optimistically to improve the performance of the infrastructure sector by policy intervention.
