Mr. Susheel Chandra Acharya is the Director General at the Department of Water Resources and Irrigation (DWRI) since August 2021. Before that, he served as Project Director of the Sunkoshi Marin Diversion Multipurpose Project, Rani Jamara Kulariya Irrigation Project, Mahakali Irrigation Project, and Regional Director of Far Western Irrigation Directorate, Dhangadhi. Mr. Acharya has over 26 years of experience in the Water Resources sector, including policy formulation, planning, designing, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of irrigation systems and water-induced disaster prevention, project management including national pride projects, negotiation with multilateral development partners for project development, bilateral negotiations with India on water resources, etc. Water resources conservation and management-related activities are the additional scopes of Mr. Acharya under DWRI. He has a master's degree in Hydraulic Engineering specializing in Land and Water Development from UNESCO-IHE, Netherlands.
